ARC Daily Connect Newsletter—Sunday, October 5, 2025

Welcome to the ARC Daily Connect. Today, I'm thinking about rising above the craving.

Someone once described the feeling of observing a craving instead of obeying it—like stepping outside of it and realizing they were bigger than the urge. That shift gave them hope.

Science
Mindfulness reduces craving intensity by activating the prefrontal cortex and quieting the amygdala. Observing urges without judgment rewires the brain to see them as temporary signals rather than commands.

ARC Skill
A skill connected to this is "Observing Without Reacting." By noticing the craving and letting it be, the brain learns that urges pass on their own. Every time you step back and witness an urge, you’re proving you are greater than it. And you don’t stand alone in that strength—we’re all practicing it together.
