You Have Probably Heard a Lot About GLP-1 Medications

They have become one of the most talked-about developments in health care.

People are hearing stories about reduced appetite, fewer cravings, improved blood sugar regulation, and dramatic changes in the way they think about food.

But there is an important part of the story that rarely receives the same attention:

Your body already makes GLP-1 naturally.

GLP-1 is a hormone produced in your digestive system. It plays an important role in appetite, feelings of fullness, blood sugar regulation, digestion, and communication between the gut and the brain.

Prescription GLP-1 medications did not invent this biological system. They were developed to act on a system that was already present in the human body.

Understanding that changes the conversation.

Instead of asking only what a medication can do, we can also begin asking:

What happened to the body’s natural signaling system?

What interferes with it?

Can that system be supported?

That is what we will explore in this free live workshop.

What You Will Learn

During this workshop, Dr Joan Ifland will explain:

What GLP-1 actually is

Learn where GLP-1 comes from, what it does, and why it has become such an important topic in conversations about appetite, blood sugar, cravings, and metabolic health.

How your body produces GLP-1 naturally

Discover the remarkable biological system already operating between your digestive tract, brain, pancreas, and other organs.

Why you may not feel the signals your body is sending

Explore how the modern food environment can disrupt appetite regulation, feelings of satisfaction, and the communication pathways that help the body recognize when enough is enough.

How ultra-processed food affects the system

Learn why struggles with cravings and overeating are not simply failures of discipline. The food environment can influence hormones, reward pathways, and the signals involved in hunger and fullness.

How natural GLP-1 differs from prescription GLP-1 medications

Dr Joan Ifland will offer a balanced, educational look at how the body’s natural hormone compares with medications designed to act on the GLP-1 system.

What the current research may mean for you

You will leave with a clearer understanding of this emerging science and a new way to think about your body, your food environment, and your health.

This Is Not a Willpower Problem

Many people have spent years believing they should be able to control their food choices by trying harder.

They may begin each day with good intentions, only to find themselves pulled back into familiar patterns by afternoon or evening.

That experience is often followed by guilt, discouragement, and another promise to do better tomorrow.

But willpower is only a small part of the picture.

Ultra-processed foods are developed to be highly rewarding and easy to consume. They can repeatedly stimulate brain and hormonal systems involved in appetite, reward, and motivation.

When those systems are being activated again and again, the struggle can feel deeply personal.

It is not.

Understanding the biology does not remove personal choice. It gives us a more accurate understanding of what those choices are up against.

For many people, that understanding is the beginning of hope.

“I Was Finally Looking at the Right Problem”

“For years, I believed my problem was that I wasn’t trying hard enough. Every time I struggled, I blamed myself. Learning the science behind what ultra-processed foods do to the body completely changed the way I saw my experience. For the first time, I realized I wasn’t weak or broken. I was finally looking at the right problem.”

When people understand what is happening in the body, shame can begin to give way to clarity.

The question changes from:

“Why can’t I control myself?”

to:

“What has been influencing my body and brain?”

That is a very different place from which to begin.

Who This Workshop Is For

This workshop may be especially helpful if:

  • You have heard about GLP-1 medications and want to understand how they work.
  • You are curious about the GLP-1 your own body produces.
  • You experience persistent cravings, food noise, or difficulty feeling satisfied.
  • You are concerned about the cost, availability, or possible side effects of prescription GLP-1 medications.
  • You are currently using a GLP-1 medication and want to understand the biological system it affects.
  • You are managing a health concern connected with ultra-processed food.
  • You are tired of being told to rely on willpower.
  • You want research-based information explained in clear, understandable language.

You do not need a medical or scientific background to attend.

Dr Ifland will make the research understandable and connect it to the experiences many people have with food every day.

This Workshop Is Educational

This workshop is designed to help you better understand GLP-1, the body’s natural signaling systems, and the research surrounding ultra-processed food.

It is not intended to diagnose or treat a medical condition, replace medical care, or advise you to begin, stop, or change any medication.

Please speak with your physician or other qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your medication, diet, exercise, or health care.

Your Body Is Not Broken

It may have been responding to conditions you were never taught to recognize.

Join Joan for this important conversation and discover what your body’s natural GLP-1 system can teach us about appetite, cravings, and health.
